Introduktion
I wouldn't exactly label it as a phobia, but I certainly harbor a significant fear, particularly when it comes to snakes, specifically rattlesnakes.

This fear has its roots in my time living in North Carolina, where, during the fall season, leaves would blanket the ground, forming substantial piles.

These leafy mounds served as ideal hiding spots for snakes. One vivid memory stands out: while walking my dog in the backyard, we unwittingly stepped onto one of these leaf piles, and a rattlesnake emerged, rattling its tail menacingly and giving chase.

Fortunately, we were in close proximity to our back porch, and we managed to escape unscathed. Nevertheless, the experience left me deeply shaken, and for the remainder of that autumn, I dared not venture into my backyard.

Utdrag
In hindsight, I acknowledge that my fear may appear irrational, given that I didn't come into direct contact with the snake.

This was a one-time encounter, and it didn't affect me as profoundly as it might have had I been bitten or physically attacked.
