Why did I choose this subject?
I selected this particular subject because I find it truly captivating to delve into. It holds a significant place in Australia's rich history, which is equally relevant today.

I'm keen to explore the distinctions between Aboriginal Australians and the Torres Strait Islander people, as it's fascinating to observe the diverse aspects of these unique cultures.

What are indigenous Australians?
Indigenous Australians are divided into two distinct groups: the Aboriginal Australians and the Torres Strait Islander people.

What are Torres strait islander people?
Torres Strait Islanders primarily hail from Queensland, a state in northeastern Australia. They enjoy distinct governmental recognition separate from the rest of the nation, known as The Torres Strait Regional Authority.

Established in 1994, its core mission centers around enhancing the social, economic, and cultural development of the Torres Strait Islander community.

What are Aboriginal Australians?
These are the indigenous inhabitants of Australia, who resided on the continent long before British colonization.

The pivotal moment of British colonization occurred in 1788 when Lieutenant James Cook laid claim to Australia as British territory.

Aboriginal Australians represent the diverse communities across the Australian mainland, encompassing regions such as Tasmania, the Tiwi Islands, and Fraser Island, among others.

Where did Aboriginal Australian come from?
I've read numerous analyses and articles about Aboriginal Australians, the continent's original inhabitants, who have called Australia home for over 50,000 years.

Remarkably, they represent the world's oldest continuously living population outside of Africa. The contemporary identity of Aboriginal Australians has evolved over time, shaped by self-identification, familial heritage, and community acceptance.

They are individuals today with ancestral connections to those who inhabited Australia prior to British colonization.
