Introduktion
Respected Members of Congress,
Greetings to you all. I am Katrine, and I stand here as a voice for 'America's Future.'
My primary emphasis today is on the pivotal need to revisit and reform the transportation habits of our fellow Americans.
I would also like to delve into the disparity between the automotive pricing agreements set by President Obama and how the subsequent administration, under President Trump, seemed to have not met those standards, thereby influencing the transportation choices of our citizens[^1^].
It has come to my attention that earlier in January, there was significant opposition to expanding subsidies for electric cars[^2^], which unfortunately didn’t see fruition.
It is this very concern that brings me to this platform, to discuss the potential steps we can take to mitigate automotive pollution.
Utdrag
Currently, the USA lags considerably behind other nations, necessitating swift action to bridge this gap. Transitioning from gasoline-powered vehicles to electric cars might be a prolonged journey, potentially spanning months or even years.
Yet, initiating this shift with electric vehicles is imperative. Our focus should be on reassessing Americans' transportation preferences. One effective strategy to incentivize electric car purchases could be offering tax incentives or reductions.
The USA ranks amongst the top CO2 emitters globally, and to avoid inheriting a devastated future environment, there's a pressing need to adopt cleaner transportation options like electric cars.
Embracing this change not only secures our future but also presents an economic advantage. At present, the USA consumes around 917 million tons of oil annually while producing 977 tons[^3^].
