Introduktion
Good day, ladies and gentlemen. I extend my warm regards to all of you. My name is Patrick Claesen, and I am a fellow student right here at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. Today, I have the distinct privilege of addressing you on the evolving nature of the American Dream.

The American Dream, a symbol of boundless opportunities for those with unwavering dedication to hard work, now teeters on the brink of obscurity.

It's evident to all of us that the American Dream no longer shines as brightly as it did for past generations. Like any other citizen in this nation, I've witnessed the gradual fading of the American Dream, and it's abundantly clear that something must be done to rejuvenate our collective belief in it.

My presentation is structured in two parts: first, I will explore and provide insights into different perceptions of the American Dream, and second, I will discuss the prerequisites for achieving it in today's America.

I aim to speak for approximately ten minutes and will gladly entertain your questions at the conclusion of my talk.

Utdrag
Joel's personal journey to the United States, where he tirelessly worked to improve his life and that of his family, serves as yet another inspirational testament to the American Dream's potential for success through hard work and dedication.

Throughout his experiences, he has gleaned invaluable insights into how the American Dream has evolved over time and what it truly means to live this dream.

From these experiences, he has derived a set of five guiding principles, akin to rules, for achieving the American Dream.

To begin with, one of Joel's key lessons is encapsulated in the maxim "Fight For Your Aspirations." Central to the American Dream is the understanding that success is not handed to you on a silver platter.

According to Joel, if you possess a clear vision of your goals and motivations and are willing to exert greater effort than those around you, then you can indeed attain your dreams.

While this perspective carries merit, it's essential to acknowledge the influence of social background on one's journey.

Social heritage often plays a significant role in one's opportunities and challenges, making it easier for some individuals to break free from their circumstances while posing greater obstacles for others.
