1. Give an account of what makes people happy and what does not, as expressed in the three texts (400 words).

At present, I find myself contemplating whether the new iPhone 6s would bring me ultimate happiness. I had similar thoughts when I got my iPhone 5s, but my initial joy lasted only for the first three days.

After that, I was no different from anyone else with an iPhone 5s.Many individuals share these thoughts with me.

They believe that purchasing the latest car, phone, or any new gadget on the market will make them happier than before.

This form of happiness is explored in James Surowiecki's article, "Technology and Happiness." According to the article, people are not happier now than they were in 1946. These three texts provide different perspectives on happiness.

Another facet of happiness is achieving a long-sought goal. In Tal Ben-Shahar's text, "The Question of Happiness," a young boy trains for a championship for five years and finally emerges victorious.

Initially, he experiences happiness, but as time passes, he doesn't feel any happier and becomes more despondent.

Both of these articles about happiness highlight the transient nature of happiness, whether it's achieved by reaching a goal or acquiring the latest possession. They both grapple with the question of what happiness truly entails.
